Iron wedding anniversary: G\u00fcnter and Hanna Vahldiek have been married for 65 years<\/h2>\n\n

G\u00fcnter Vahldiek is a native of Vahldorf. He was born and grew up in the town and even went to school there. Why did he move to Wolmirstedt at a young age? Because of love, of course! <\/p>\n\n

His wife Hanna’s aunt lived in Vahldorf. As a teenager, Hanna often visited her aunt and met G\u00fcnter there. The two fell in love, got married and moved to Wolmirstedt, Hanna Vahldiek’s home town. That was 65 years ago, and now the couple have already celebrated their Iron Wedding. <\/p>\n\n

On the wedding day itself, August 20, Hanna and G\u00fcnter Vahldiek were out of town. Their two daughters Gesine and Beatrice went with them on a short vacation to L\u00fcneburg. The Vahldieks therefore only welcomed Wolmirstedt’s deputy mayor Jens Sonnabend a few days later. He sent his congratulations as well as flowers and a gift. <\/p>\n\n

Hanna and G\u00fcnter Vahldiek talked about their lives: she worked in the district construction company, he initially trained and worked for the railroad and later became a production manager in agricultural engineering plant construction. The Vahldiek couple shared a hobby for many years: both were active as breeders in the “1909 Wolmirstedt” pedigree poultry club. In this context, G\u00fcnter Vahldiek was also instrumental in building the “Glucke” every Saturday and Sunday for two years. <\/p>\n\n

“There have been arguments,” Hanna Vahldiek is honest when asked about the secret of her long marriage. “But you always have to make up, and we did,” she explains. Her husband nods in agreement. So many ups and downs that the two of them have mastered together cannot be thrown away for a stupid argument. The Vahldieks are happy about the help of their two daughters, who no longer live in Wolmirstedt, but are still always there for their parents, as well as the affection of their granddaughter and great-grandson. <\/p>\n\n
