The city’s building yard supports the project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The Kurf\u00fcrst-Joachim-Friedrich-Gymnasium in Wolmirstedt has already set itself a major goal shortly after the vacations. From August 25 to 29, the pupils and their teachers are dedicating an entire project week to the topic of “sustainability”. <\/p>\n\n

The different class levels each organized different activities around the topic. The city of Wolmirstedt was able to help the 7th graders with their project. The young people and their teachers collected garbage on three consecutive days. They brought the municipal building yard on board for this. Building yard manager Martin Holly first welcomed the pupils to the building yard grounds and talked to them about the general waste problem that unfortunately exists in Wolmirstedt – as in other towns. <\/p>\n\n

The head of the building yard also briefly explained to the young people the structure of the city administration and who takes care of litter in Wolmirstedt and then gave them safety instructions on how to handle garbage. The high school students not only received garbage bags from the building yard, but also a transport trailer on which they could later unload the collected garbage. <\/p>\n\n

“We found so many cigarette butts,” said one pupil during the garbage collection campaign. She and her friend were shocked at what the people of Wolmirstedt throw into nature: For example, the youngsters found an old oil can and a huge plastic flower box. The district of B\u00f6rde also took part in the high school’s campaign and made it possible to dispose of the collected garbage free of charge by means of collection slips. <\/p>\n\n

During the sustainability week, the 7th graders at the grammar school also dealt with a climate-neutral breakfast and the care of recently planted trees, among other things. The town of Wolmirstedt is pleased and proud that young people in the town are committed to combating littering and that the building yard was able to provide support. Around a ton of garbage was collected over three days. <\/p>\n\n
