Construction of the new fire station in Glindenberg is progressing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A new fire station is currently being built in the Wolmirstedt district of Glindenberg. While the groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2025, construction of the building is already well underway. Work is currently underway on the shell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another milestone was reached on April 30 with the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the new fire station. Wolmirstedt’s mayor Mike Steffens welcomed not only Glindenberg’s local fire service chief Andy Opitz and Wolmirstedt’s town fire service chief Michael Langrock, but also numerous fire department comrades from Glindenberg. Glindenberg’s local mayor Gerhild Schmidt, the district fire chief of the B\u00f6rde district, Johannes Erben, town and local councillors as well as planners, architects and construction companies also accepted the invitation to the laying of the foundation stone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The fire department has always been an indispensable part of our community. Its members are available around the clock to help in emergencies – on a voluntary basis, always with great commitment, courage and a sense of responsibility. This new building is an expression of our appreciation for this important task and at the same time a commitment to the safety of our citizens,” explained Mike Steffens at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with representatives of the Glindenberg fire department, he sank a time capsule containing, among other things, greetings from the mayor to the finders in the future as well as a newspaper of the day and construction plans for the fire station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new fire station is scheduled for completion in mid-2027. The new building will be constructed on the site of the existing fire station, meaning that the current location in Glindenberg will continue to be used. The old building will remain in operation during the entire construction phase and will only be demolished once the new building has been opened. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will provide 23 active members of the Glindenberg volunteer fire department and 21 children and young people in the junior departments with a modern and functional facility. The new building provides for a compact and solid structure with optimum functionality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All requirements for use as a local fire department will be implemented on the first floor, taking into account the requirements under monument law for integration into the townscape. The main entrance will be both the operational entrance and the public entrance. Inside, the changing rooms and sanitary facilities will be on the right and the social area with training room and kitchenette on the left. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entrances and exits for four fire engines and the crew transport vehicle are located on the western side of the building. There will also be another gate on the east side to the training yard. This means that three parking spaces are accessible from one side and a further parking space is planned for drive-throughs. Heating is provided by a heat pump hybrid heating system. A photovoltaic system on the roof supports the power supply and ensures lower operating costs in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The construction costs amount to around 1.83 million euros. The city and local councils, in agreement with the local fire brigade management, had approved the Wolmirstedt city administration’s proposal to build a new building.
