Invitation to the Elbe Cycling Day on May 10

Tour leads from the Wolmirstedt castle domain to the blossom festival in Rogätz

The town of Wolmirstedt is part of the Elbe Cycle Day 2025. On Saturday, May 10, a free, guided cycle tour will start from the castle domain to the flower festival in Rogätz. The meeting point is at 11 a.m. in front of the community center, where you can first enjoy a hot coffee or a refreshing drink. The tour then starts at 11.30 am.

The tour leads from Wolmirstedt in the direction of Glindenberg, from there along the Elbe to Heinrichsberg, Loitsche and finally to Rogätz. Most of the route is on asphalt and on separate cycle paths. The tour covers around 25 kilometers, for which the group has around 1.5 hours. A moderate pace and short breaks are planned – for example to enjoy the view of the Elbe.

The tour will end at around 1 p.m. at the Klutturm in Rogätz, where a souvenir photo will be taken and a short guided tour awaits the participants. There will also be a free snack. At 2 pm, the Rogätz Flower Festival parade will start, in which the cyclists can take part – but they can also watch from the roadside and collect carnival sweets. From 2.45 p.m. there will be a stage program on the Rogätzer Festwiese (Nachtweide). Participants can cycle the route back on their own or take the train, which runs every hour from Rogätz to Wolmirstedt and on which bicycles can also be transported.

The cycle tour, which starts on May 10 in Wolmirstedt, is part of a rally. Tours also start at the tourist information office in Burg and at the tourist information office in Magdeburg. The participants from all the towns should arrive in Rogätz at the same time. On May 4, there are already six tours on which the Elbe in the Altmark can be explored, each with the town of Arneburg as the destination.

The Elbe Cycle Path, which also passes the Wolmirstedt district of Glindenberg, is 30 years old this year. To celebrate this anniversary in style, the Elbe-Börde-Heide Tourism Association, the district of Börde and the participating towns have prepared the Elbe Cycle Day as the start of the cycling season. Information on these and other events and the anniversary of the Elbe Cycle Route can be found on the website www.elberadweg.de
