Invitation to the parties and voter groups to nominate election committee members for the election of the mayor on 07.09.2025 (possible run-off election on 21.09.2025)
The parties and voter groups represented in the electoral area of the unified municipality of Wolmirstedt are hereby requested in accordance with Section 6 (2) of the Local Election Code for the State of Saxony-Anhalt (KWO LSA) to nominate eligible voters from the above-mentioned electoral area as assessors or their deputies for the election of the mayor of the unified municipality of Wolmirstedt on 07.09.2025 (possible run-off election on 21.09.2025) by 13.05.2025.

Pursuant to Section 13 (1) of the Local Elections Act for the State of Saxony-Anhalt (KWG LSA), the assessors of the election committees work on an honorary basis. Sections 30 to 32 of the Local Government Constitution Act apply accordingly.
Pursuant to Section 13 (2) KWG LSA, election candidates and persons of trust for election proposals may not hold an honorary electoral office.
An election committee consists of the election supervisor as chairman and two to eight assessors. The electoral officer and the assessors are appointed by the municipal electoral officer from among those entitled to vote (Section 12 (1) KWG LSA).
In accordance with Section 13 (3) KWG LSA, the refusal to accept an honorary elective office or the resignation from an honorary elective office is governed by Section 31 of the Local Government Constitution Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt.
As a rule, good cause within the meaning of these provisions only exists for:
- the members of the Bundestag and the federal government as well as the state parliament and the state government,
- those employed in the public sector who are officially entrusted with the preparation and conduct of the election or with the maintenance of public safety and order,
- Eligible voters who have reached the age of 67 on election day,
- Eligible voters who can credibly demonstrate that caring for their family makes it particularly difficult for them to hold office,
- Persons entitled to vote who can credibly demonstrate that they are prevented from properly exercising their office for urgent professional reasons or due to illness or infirmity,
- Eligible voters who are outside their place of residence on election day for compelling reasons,
- Eligible voters who refuse to participate in elections for political or religious reasons.
An employee of the municipality can also be appointed as an assessor of the election committee if he or she does not live in the electoral area (Section 9 (1a) KWG LSA).
Permanent employees of the authorities and institutions of the Land located in the electoral area or of a legal entity under public law subject to the supervision of the Land may also be appointed as assessors of the electoral boards if not enough eligible voters can be found (Section 10 (1a) KWG LSA).
