- On 07.09.2025 the election of the mayor will take place in Wolmirstedt.
The election lasts from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The municipality is divided into the following 10 electoral districts:

The election notifications sent to eligible voters in the period up to 17.08.2025 indicate the electoral district and the polling station in which the voter has to vote.
- The postal ballot boards will meet to determine the postal ballot results at 3.00 p.m. in the town hall, August-Bebel-Str. 25, 39326 Wolmirstedt.
- Every person entitled to vote may only vote in the polling station of the electoral district in whose electoral roll they are entered.
Voters must have the polling card and their identity card or an official document (e.g. passport or driver’s license) ready; EU citizens must have their valid identity card or passport ready. They must identify themselves at the request of the electoral board.
The polling card will be returned for any run-off election that may become necessary.
- Voting takes place using official ballot papers. Upon entering the polling station, each voter receives a ballot paper for the election for which they are entitled to vote.
The ballot paper must be marked unobserved by the voter in a polling booth of the polling station or in a special adjoining room and placed in the ballot box in a folded state in such a way that the marking cannot be recognized by bystanders.
A person entitled to vote who is unable to read or is prevented from casting their vote due to a disability may use the assistance of another person to cast their vote. Assistance is limited to technical assistance in expressing a voting decision made and expressed by the person entitled to vote. Assistance is not permitted if it is provided under improper influence, if it replaces or changes the voter’s self-determined decision-making or decision or if there is a conflict of interest on the part of the assisting person.
In the election of the mayor, the ballot papers contain the names of the eligible candidates in alphabetical order under consecutive numbers. Each voter has one vote. Voters mark the name of the candidate they wish to vote for on the ballot paper by ticking the box or in another unambiguous manner.
There is the possibility of a run-off election on 21.09.2025. Eligible voters who have received a polling card for the mayoral election will retain their polling card for the run-off election. Persons who are not entered in the electoral roll and have received a polling card for the first election and persons who are only eligible to vote in the run-off election will only receive a polling card upon application.
- The election process and the subsequent determination and ascertainment of the election results in the electoral district are public. Everyone has access to the extent that this is possible without interfering with the election process. During the election period, in and around the building in which the polling station is located, as well as directly in front of the entrance to the building, any influencing of voters by means of sound, writing or images as well as any collection of signatures is prohibited (Section 35 of the Local Elections Act for the State of Saxony-Anhalt).
- Eligible voters who have a polling card may participate in the election in the electoral area for which the polling card is valid,
a) by casting a vote in any constituency in this electoral area or
b) by postal vote
participate.
Anyone wishing to vote by postal ballot must apply to the municipality for a polling card with the necessary postal voting documents. Postal voters exercise their right to vote as follows:
a) The voter marks his/her ballot paper personally and unobserved.
b) He/she places the ballot paper(s) unobserved in the official ballot paper envelope and seals it.
c) He/she signs the declaration in lieu of an oath for postal voting printed on the ballot paper, stating the date.
d) Place the sealed official ballot paper envelope and the signed polling card in the official ballot paper envelope and seal it.
e) Send the ballot letter to the address indicated on the ballot paper envelope. The ballot letter can also be handed in at the office indicated
If the voter has had the ballot paper marked by an assistant, the latter must confirm to the Chief Electoral Officer by signing the affirmation in lieu of an oath that he or she has marked the ballot paper in accordance with the voter’s declared intention.
- Each person entitled to vote may only exercise the right to vote once and only in person. The right to vote may not be exercised by a representative instead of the person entitled to vote.
Anyone who votes without authorization or otherwise brings about an incorrect result of an election or falsifies the result is liable to a custodial sentence not exceeding five years or a monetary penalty. Unauthorized voting also includes anyone who casts a vote contrary to the decision of the person entitled to vote or without an expressed decision of the person entitled to vote within the scope of permissible assistance. The attempt pursuant to Section 107a (3) of the Criminal Code is also punishable.
