Fundraising at the city festival: Youth fire department invests money from the city bet

The Wolmirstedt youth fire department has recently invested: Two quick set-up tents, alarm beepers for realistic exercises by the youth fire department and a table tennis table for the volunteer fire department members to spend their free time together were purchased.

The money for all these new purchases did not come by chance. It was collected at the Wolmirstedt City Festival 2025. The reason was a city bet: the city councillors and Mayor Marlies Cassuhn had been asked to collect at least 1016 euros in donations. Some of the 28 members of Wolmirstedt’s town council really went all out and won the bet. They collected almost 1500 euros, which were then handed over to the betting partner, the Wolmirstedt youth fire department.

The youth fire department has now expressed its gratitude. “Thank you to the city administration for the bet idea, thank you to the city council for the collection and a big thank you to the citizens for their willingness to donate. We are incredibly grateful and happy!” said fire department spokesperson Yves Hummelt.

The members of the youth fire department and the Wolmirstedt fire department inaugurated the new table tennis table at a joint barbecue evening.
