A Look Back at the 2026 City Festival

Once again this year, the town of Wolmirstedt welcomed thousands of visitors to its town festival. Under bright sunshine, a three-day celebration took place on the castle grounds and in the castle gardens, offering highlights to suit nearly every taste.

In recent years, it has become a tradition for the city festival to kick off with a sporting event: Torsten and Verena Römer, together with Torsten Römer’s colleagues from Mecklenburgische Versicherung, once again organized the “Ohrelauf,” for which 42 teams had registered this year. First up were the Bambinis. Even the youngest runners ran like world champions—despite the sweltering heat. Teams of students and adults also took part in the Ohrelauf. The sporting event ultimately served as the kickoff for the city festival.

The event continued on Friday evening with three up-and-coming bands from the region: “Die Quietschies,” “Brodcast,” and “Change Over.” DJ Matze also spun music from the ’80s and ’90s. Saturday also featured a varied lineup. From 1 p.m. until 1 a.m., musicians took the stage one after another. Among them were professionals like host Hansy Vogt, who wowed the crowd with his ventriloquism act and his performance as “Frau Wäber,” as well as beginners like the young artists of the OK Live Ensemble, who, however, brought along many enthusiastic fans.

Choirs, as well as children from daycare centers, schools, and after-school programs, performed, along with a trombone ensemble of 48 musicians. The “Bikerclassic” had once again chosen the Wolmirstedt City Festival as its destination and arrived there with many vintage motorcycles. Wolmirstedt’s mayor, Mike Steffens, presented the trophies. In the evening, the band ¾ Zwööölwe performed, followed later by the party band “Zeitlos.”

The city festival Sunday kicked off with a traditional morning beer, to which sponsors and city council members were also invited. Afterward, the “show for the whole family” continued. The Kolorit ensemble, magician Peter Valance, and the Wolmirstedt Music School Big Band all performed. The star guest of the city festival was pop singer and winner of the RTL show “Let’s Dance,” Anna-Carina Woitschack. She got the audience in a festive mood, signed autographs, and even managed to get Mayor Mike Steffens to join her on stage for a dance.

Once again this year, the Wolmirstedt City Festival was enlivened by the popular children’s scavenger hunt, in which local clubs, the library, and other organizations participated. There was also a bouncy castle paradise for children in the castle park and various rides on the castle grounds.

The town of Wolmirstedt would like to thank all volunteers, supporters, and sponsors for their contribution to the success of the event!
