After-School Care Staff Member Bids Farewell

Gabriela Book, a resident of Hort, is retiring

Retirement is sometimes a tearful occasion. There were plenty of tears recently at the Johannes Gutenberg School in Wolmirstedt, as staff member Gabriela Book was honored at the school’s after-school care center.

“After 13 years at the Gutenberg After-School Care Center, a loyal and dedicated employee is leaving,” said Center Director Britt Engel, adding about Gabriela Book: “As an educational specialist at the after-school care center at the ‘Johannes Gutenberg’ School, she has made a significant contribution to the well-being of our children.”

With a song, gifts, and many kind words and hugs, the children and colleagues thanked the after-school care staff member for the years they had spent together. Wolmirstedt’s mayor, Mike Steffens, also made a point of personally saying goodbye to the city employee.

Although Gabriela Book now has much more time for herself and her family, she has already promised the children who surrounded her that she will visit them regularly.
