Anneliese Müller has lived in Wolmirstedt for six years. She feels at home in the DRK residential quarter “Am Stadtpark”, has made many friends and is integrated into a group of senior citizens who spend almost every day together. They love to play Rummikub together. On March 3, the neighbors all came over to congratulate Anneliese Müller as she celebrated a special birthday: her 90th!
The Mayor of Wolmirstedt, Mike Steffens, was particularly pleased to receive personal congratulations, flowers and a gift. She has not lived in the town all her life, but only for six years. “I was one of the first to move in here,” says Anneliese Müller, raving about her small apartment in the residential area. The biggest advantage is that she lives close to her daughter. She has lived in Wolmirstedt for many years, while Anneliese Müller lived in the house where she was born in Eschenrode (near Weferlingen) until her husband died.
She grew up there and later raised her two children there. There are now also four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren in the family. Anneliese Müller had an eventful professional life: In Eschenrode, she worked in the LPG, was responsible for the chickens there for years, was put to work in the fields, caring for the pigs and cows and much more. She later worked in a nursery and in the sugar factory and was finally a milk inspector for the LPG.
She never got bored. For example, she got her driver’s license right after reunification – at the age of 54. She brought her car with her to Wolmirstedt six years ago and drove it there for another two years. Anneliese Müller would like to celebrate once again with her friends in the residential area on Saturday.
