On October 22, 2025, highly pathogenic avian influenza (classical avian influenza) was officially detected in wild birds in the district of Börde. The district of Börde has issued a general ruling to protect domestic and farm poultry stocks.
Important information:
- Anyone keeping poultry and captive birds of other species in the Börde district must keep them in closed stables or under a device consisting of an overhanging, watertight cover (waterproof) secured against entry from above and with a side fence secured against the entry of wild birds (mesh size up to 25 mm).
- The holding of events involving poultry is prohibited throughout the district of Börde.
- Acutely ill or suddenly dead poultry must be reported to the Office for Health and Consumer Protection immediately and on a daily basis.
