The carol singers are once again collecting donations for a good cause in Wolmirstedt at the start of 2026. This year’s motto is “School instead of factory – carol singing against child labor”.
Every year, the carol singers travel through many places throughout Germany to collect money for a good cause. They are also active in Wolmirstedt. In 2026, there will once again be various central events where donations are collected and the blessing “Christus mansionem benedictat” (Christ bless this house) is distributed as a sticker.
On January 6, 2026, the carol singers will first be guests at the Catholic St. Josef Church in Wolmirstedt during a service that begins at 10.30 am. On January 8, they will sing in the town hall at 10 a.m. and then in the home and workshop of Bodelschwingh-Haus. On January 11, they will be present at a service in the Protestant St. Paulus Church in Colbitz from 2.30 pm.

For anyone wondering what the money collected as donations is spent on, the carol singers tell the story of the girl Nour, who can be seen on this year’s poster. She is an example of the many children around the world who are helped by the carol singers.
The story of Nour, told by the carol singers
Nour is a girl from Bangladesh. She is twelve years old and worked in a factory until recently. She started there at the age of six because she had to help her mother earn money. Nour lives alone with her mother with her grandfather. Nour’s father no longer looks after his family. But now, hopefully, things will get better. A project that we carol singers support has helped Nour and her mother. Nour’s mother was lent money so that she could set up her own business. Now she earns enough money for herself and Nour. It’s not much, but it’s enough for Nour to go back to school. Nour is happy and she is a good pupil. She wants to study later and preferably become a lawyer.
Without the help from the Sternsinger project, Nour would still be working in the factory. Work that is far too hard for very little money. She wouldn’t finish school and probably wouldn’t have a normal job later on. That’s why we carol singers support projects that help families so that the children can go to school and the families can find a way out of poverty.
