Diethardt Misch came to Wolmirstedt from Upper Silesia as a ten-year-old boy. The town on the River Ohre has long since become his home. Diethardt Misch graduated from high school here and also lived and worked here after studying at the School of Mechanical Engineering in Magdeburg.
“I had a lot to do with housing construction in Wolmirstedt,” recalls the Wolmirstedt resident, who has now celebrated his 90th birthday. He was chairman of the AWG for many years, but was an active footballer at Kali Wolmirstedt for even longer. He even played for the old men there. Has sport contributed to the fact that Diethardt Misch is still so fit in his old age that he can still do a lot of gardening work on his own, for example?
“She always looked after me well,” says the 90-year-old, laughing and pointing to his wife Karin, who is a qualified nurse. However, his children Heike and Jörg, their partners and his two grandsons have always stuck by Diethardt Misch. The majority of the family made their way to Wernigerode for the milestone birthday to spend a great day together. Things will not be boring for Diethardt Misch in the future either. In 2026, he and his wife Karin will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary – their Iron Wedding.
