DRK-Kreisverband Börde e.V. dismantles most of its used clothing containers

The DRK-Kreisverband Börde e.V. has announced that it will be removing the majority of its used clothing containers from September 22, 2025. This also applies to Wolmirstedt. This is the DRK’s response to the tense situation on the used clothing market. “Only the containers at the district association’s own DRK facilities will be retained,” says the Börde district association.

For months, there has been a significant backlog of non-recyclable used clothing throughout Germany. The containers are filling up faster and storage capacities are exhausted. Since a new EU directive came into force in January, which prohibits the disposal of used clothing with residual waste, the amount of waste has also increased.

Another problem is the increasing littering of the containers. Maintaining the current number of containers is no longer sustainable under these conditions. As a charitable organization, the focus of the DRK-Kreisverband Börde e.V. is on social tasks – the disposal of non-recyclable material is not part of this.

The four clothing stores in Wolmirstedt, Haldensleben, Gröningen and Oschersleben will remain open. The staff there would accept clothing in good condition, wearable shoes and clean bed linen in normal household quantities. With these donations, the DRK Börde district association continues to support people in the region who are in need of help.
