City gives tips for hot days

The heatwave has also reached Wolmirstedt. The German Weather Service is forecasting temperatures of up to 38 degrees Celsius for Wednesday and has issued a heat warning.
We have put together a few tips for hot days. You can find more on the website of the Federal Institute of Public Health at www.klima-mensch-gesundheit.de/hitzeschutz.
If you want to cool off, we can recommend the Wolmirstedt swimming pool.
Caution: The fountains on the boulevard may look tempting on hot days, but it is forbidden to enter them. This can be dangerous for children. What’s more, the water in the fountains is not drinking water.
Important tips for hot days:
- Keep your home cool: ventilate at night and in the morning and darken the rooms with shutters or similar.
- Drink plenty of water or other cool, non-alcoholic drinks such as juices, spritzers or teas.
- Eat small, easily digestible meals wherever possible.
- Avoid physical strain, including sporting activities.
- Stay mainly in cool rooms.
When you go outside:
- It is best to postpone outdoor activities until the morning and evening.
- Avoid direct sunlight, especially at midday.
- Stay in the shade if possible.
- Wear a hat and use sunscreen.
- Pay attention to particularly vulnerable people and animals. Never leave children, people with health problems or animals in parked vehicles, not even for a short time!
