With the fiber optic expansion, the digital future in Wolmirstedt and Elbeu is coming closer step by step. Since August 2023, the construction machines of Libra GmbH, the construction partner commissioned by Deutsche Glasfaser, have been rolling through the villages. The civil engineering work is currently progressing well, so that 25% of the work in Wolmirstedt is already complete. Construction work in Elbeu is expected to start at the beginning of next year.
The supra-regional fiber optic connection outside the districts is currently being built in parallel. As soon as this has been successfully implemented, the three main fiber optic distributors in Wolmirstedt will be put into operation. The first households can then be activated and benefit from the new high-speed Internet. Deutsche Glasfaser has scheduled the activations for the second quarter of 2024. The construction partner will contact the customers in advance to arrange a date for the completion of the fiber optic connections. As soon as the fiber optic connection is active, Deutsche Glasfaser will take over the termination of the customer’s current landline telephone contract with their current provider, provided the customer has requested the transfer of their telephone numbers.
Libra GmbH is currently preparing for the winter break, so that construction sites that are still open are temporarily closed or properly secured to ensure safety. After the winter break, things will resume at full speed from mid-January 2024.
In the meantime, the free Deutsche Glasfaser construction hotline on 02861 – 890 60 940 from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. will answer any questions you may have about construction. Contracts for the use of the fiber optic connection can be issued by telephone on 02861 8133 400 from Monday to Friday from 8:00 – 20:00 and on Saturdays from 09:00 – 18:00.
