Keep paths clear for the dike inspection

Deichschau 2025: Residents must keep paths clear and make properties accessible

The State Agency for Flood Protection and Water Management of Saxony-Anhalt will soon be carrying out its regular dyke inspection in Wolmirstedt again. The dyke sections of the town and the district of Glindenberg will be inspected on April 29 and 30.

According to the state’s Water Act, the responsible inspection commission has the right to enter properties, navigate bodies of water and inspect facilities, inspect inventory and operating documents of water management facilities and also to arrange for a demonstration of the functionality of water management facilities, insofar as this is necessary for carrying out the inspection. Owners and residents along the dykes are obliged to keep the paths clear for the dyke inspection and to allow unhindered access to the property.

Citizens have the opportunity to take part in the dyke inspection at their own risk and expense. The first dyke inspection is scheduled for April 29 for the Wolmirstedt and Glindenberg areas. Starting at 9 a.m., areas of the Elbe and Ohre rivers will be inspected over a total of 21.56 kilometers. The starting point is the parking lot at the fire station in Glindenberg. On April 30 at 9 a.m., the second dyke inspection will start at the Ohre bridge in Glindenberg. From there, 22.24 kilometers of the Ohre and Schrote dykes will be inspected. Interested parties can find out which areas will be inspected in detail on both dates on the state agency’s website at https://lhw.sachsen-anhalt.de/deichschautermine.
