Dear Mr. Maspfuhl,
You are the dinosaur of Wolmirstedt local politics and have lasted the longest among all of us who were present at the zero hour in 1990. As a native of Wolmirstedt, born in 1961, I would like to express my sincere and belated thanks to you. You have rendered great service to my hometown.
You have diligently and tirelessly – and I know this – advocated for the concerns of the “common man” on the street, putting their interests above your own. It took me a long time to realize how honest and sincere such politics are towards those from whom we received our mandate: the citizens of my city, Wolmirstedt.
It is all the more painful to acknowledge that local politics today is largely in the hands of those who prioritize populism and political arson over my city. Mr. Maspfuhl, you deserve a farewell that is more honorable than what our current times offer.
Dear Mr. Maspfuhl, I would like to sincerely thank you for your efforts over nearly three and a half decades, for you have done the right thing. I hope that my birthplace and hometown, Wolmirstedt, duly acknowledges this.
