Meeting on municipal heat planning

Now it’s all about concrete implementation

Wolmirstedt is on the right track when it comes to municipal heat planning. Work on this topic is progressing in leaps and bounds. After an initial workshop with key players in municipal heat planning took place in the summer, the town of Wolmirstedt was able to welcome many more participants to a second workshop.

The main focus of the event was on target scenarios for municipal heating planning in Wolmirstedt and the development of measures within this framework. The aim of the workshop was to formulate a target scenario for the future energy supply in Wolmirstedt with representatives from the energy industry, the housing industry and the administration. “There is good potential in the area of energy-efficient renovations and also in the recovery of low-cost waste heat, for example from the future battery storage system,” explained Jonas Robbinheimer, who led the workshop. He is the managing owner of the company ETA-E, which carries out municipal heat planning for the town of Wolmirstedt.

From the company’s perspective, Wolmirstedt is well positioned to realize a climate-neutral energy and heat supply for citizens and businesses. The workshop has already identified specific measures for how Wolmirstedt’s heating transition can succeed, including with regard to end consumer prices.

During the discussion, however, the representatives of the municipal utilities, the Wolmirstedt housing association and the housing cooperative and other stakeholders in municipal heating planning also spoke about their concerns regarding the topic, some of which were considerable. For example, the high level of investment required to retrofit homes for energy efficiency all too often comes up against inadequate and overly bureaucratic funding opportunities. Ultimately, the heating transition can only be achieved through high investments, which are accompanied by uncertainties regarding future developments.

This shows once again how dynamic the process of municipal heat planning is, how necessary a prudent and coordinated approach remains and how important it is to continuously adapt the plan to actual developments. The town of Wolmirstedt is therefore continuing to work meticulously on the topic.

The municipal heating plan for Wolmirstedt will be completed by December 31, 2025. Citizens will soon have the opportunity to inspect the municipal heating plan at the town hall. A public participation event is also planned for November 26 from 6 p.m. in the council chamber of the town hall. The plan is due to be adopted by the city council in March 2026.
