Mike Steffens in office from 07.12.2025

    Press release 86/25:

Wolmirstedt’s new mayor Mike Steffens starts work in the town hall

The new mayor of the town of Wolmirstedt, Mike Steffens, started work in the town hall on Monday, December 8, 2025. He had officially been in office since December 7. On his first working day, a handover of office took place with the previous mayor, Marlies Cassuhn.

Mike Steffens presented the former mayor with flowers and a gift. He expressly thanked Marlies Cassuhn for the work she had done and also expressed his pleasure that she would be staying with the city administration for a few more weeks. Until her actual retirement at the end of February, Ms. Cassuhn will continue to work as head of the Youth/Culture/Sport/Social Services department for around three months. She herself thanked Mike Steffens for the fair cooperation in the run-up to his term of office, which had made a sensible handover of office possible.

On his first day at work, Mike Steffens had some very practical discussions at the town hall, for example being introduced to the software system. On the other hand, the new mayor also attended important appointments. For example, Mike Steffens accepted an invitation from Stadtwerke to attend a supervisory board meeting.

On his first day in office, Mike Steffens was congratulated on his success in his new role. For example, Börde District Councillor Martin Stichnoth, a long-time companion of Mike Steffens, dropped by with a Börde treasure chest as a gift.
