The town of Wolmirstedt is redeveloping:
In addition to major construction and refurbishment projects, the town of Wolmirstedt regularly has small repair work carried out on municipal buildings and properties. Three such projects have just been completed.
Old garages on the grounds of the swimming pool were repaired
The 2025 outdoor pool season in Wolmirstedt is officially open. The swimming pool has been open to guests since May 15. Prior to this, necessary work was carried out there. The town of Wolmirstedt had two old garages demolished on the site at the end of last year.
Workers have now repaired the remaining garages: The doors have been made accessible, the garages have been upgraded in terms of color and paving stones have been laid in front of them. One garage has been given new windows and doors. The small outbuildings on the swimming pool site are not only used by employees to store work equipment, but are also used by schools to store their equipment for swimming lessons.
On the site right next to the garages, old tree stumps were ripped out, soil was piled up to level out any unevenness and new grass was planted. The town of Wolmirstedt spent around 20,000 euros on the entire project.

More space for the youth fire department: Former garages on the fire department site demolished
A lot has happened recently on the site of the Wolmirstedt volunteer fire department on Bauernweg. There were and still are a number of outbuildings from the GDR era. The town of Wolmirstedt has recently had six old garages demolished. This has created more space for youth fire department exercises, which the fire department volunteers are very pleased about.
Before the open space could be cleared for the new firefighters, however, the foundations and floor slabs had to be torn out. Now the view of further garages is clear. These are to be repaired so that the firefighters can continue to use them for storing work materials.
The entire project cost around 27,500 euros.

New shelter at bus stop in front of Diesterweg elementary school
There are children at the Adolph-Diesterweg elementary school in Wolmirstedt who rely on the school bus every day. Even in wind and weather, they sometimes have to wait until the bus arrives. The town of Wolmirstedt has now provided a remedy and had a large shelter built right next to the bus stop in front of the school.
“We had the free space and are now making good use of it,” says Martin Diesing from the city council’s building construction department. However, benches are not to be installed under the brand new pavilion. There would be too great a risk of it being used as a new meeting place in the evenings and possibly being disfigured.
