New asphalt for the city’s building yard

The city’s building yard gets a sensible asphalt surface

Roughly speaking, the employees of the Wolmirstedt building yard are there to beautify the town. They maintain green spaces, remove garbage, fill in potholes, carry out obligatory sovereign tasks and much more. However, their own premises on Fabrikstraße were getting on in years.

But a building yard where work is carried out, where machines, equipment, building materials and much more are stored, should also look neat and tidy – especially so that the employees feel comfortable there and can carry out their work properly. In recent years, the team led by Martin Holly, head of the building yard, has increasingly devoted itself to tidying up and redesigning the building yard.

A layer of asphalt was recently laid on part of the site. “This is a real milestone,” explained Martin Holly. The site had previously been unpaved, and the subsoil consisted mainly of concrete, asphalt residue, field stones and so on. Now around 180 tons of asphalt have been laid. The specialist company contracted came with six employees and completed the work within one working day. A paver, a wheel loader, a compaction roller and a spreader roller were used. As a result, around 600 square meters of asphalt was laid.
