Readings by 10 authors and a colorful program in one evening: Wolmirstedt City Library takes part in the nationwide Night of Libraries
The Federal Association of Libraries is organizing a “Night of Libraries” nationwide for the first time on 4 April 2025. The Wolmirstedt City Library is taking part. The small but extremely dedicated team led by library manager Janina Freimann is organizing 14 readings by 10 different authors on this evening from 4 to 10 pm. The members of the “Lesezauber” support association are also actively involved and have secured sponsorship from the Lions Club, Investitionsbank and Volksbank, among others.
Visitors to the Night of the Libraries in Wolmirstedt can not only listen, but also take advantage of various hands-on activities. From 4 to 7 p.m., for example, there will be activities for children: the “story cube”, a book and literature quiz, a writing and painting workshop and a hands-on crime game called “Most Wanted”. The community center team will be offering food and drinks, and the Wolmirstedt music school will also be contributing live music.
The readings will take place in the library itself as well as in the ballroom and in the Bauernstube of the Bürgerhaus. There will also be a book sale by the authors in the foyer of the community center. The supporting program will partly take place in front of the library. Admission to all parts of the program is free.
Readings for children are planned for the afternoon hours. Ilona Kaßler will be reading from her book “Ein Teddy namens Teti” in the library from 4 to 4.30 pm. Nicole Oelze will be reading from her book “Mamas Geschichten für dich” from 4.30 to 5 pm. From 5 to 5.30 pm Ilona Kaßler will read from “Gestatten Mojo”. From 5.30 to 6 p.m., Sylvie Braesi will also be reading from “Abenteuer Sternenfeuer”. All these readings for children will take place in the library.
