City of Wolmirstedt invites people to sing together on October 3 in the spirit of unity and cohesion
This year, the town of Wolmirstedt is taking part in the nationwide “October 3 – Germany sings and sounds” campaign, in which over 10,000 people have taken part in recent years and which is supported and promoted by the German government, among others. The Glindenberg choir and the town of Wolmirstedt are inviting people to sing together in this context.
The event will take place on October 3, 2025 from 7 p.m. at the castle domain. Ten selected songs from different genres will be played throughout the country at this time. For example, the event will start with “Wind of Change” and end with the European anthem. The Glindenberg choir and members of several guest choirs will be singing in Wolmirstedt. All citizens, young and old, are invited to join in the singing.
The aim of the “October 3 – Germany sings and sounds” campaign is to “celebrate the miracle of the Peaceful Revolution and the fall of the Berlin Wall with a broad cross-generational public celebration (open air) on the Day of German Unity. This should also be a conscious sign of gratitude and hope for the future of the country,” as can be read on the homepage https://3oktober.org/. This should strengthen social cohesion and promote remembrance of German history.
Snacks and drinks will be provided by the Katharinensaal team, and song lyrics will also be available. Participants are asked to bring jam jars or similar with tea lights. These will be used to light up the castle grounds.
