Primary school pupils tend flower beds

Schoolchildren from Wolmirstedter Diesterweg Primary School stood in for their sick janitor and dedicated themselves to tending the flower beds.

Schoolchildren help out and get their school’s flower beds back in shape

Spring has sprung and it has been blooming and greening outside for some time now. This means that the janitors at Wolmirstedt’s elementary school have a lot to do anyway. Things get tight when one of them is absent due to illness. Then things can get dicey, because planted flower beds don’t tolerate any delay when it comes to watering and tending to them.

This is not a problem at the “Adolph Diesterweg” elementary school. When the janitor was recently absent due to illness, many young gardeners were ready and waiting to lend a hand. They took care of the tree saplings that had to be removed. Annett Heller, who is responsible for green spaces in the Wolmirstedt city administration, and caretaker Kathrin Müller were delighted with this commitment. “This is not something that can be taken for granted, both by the children and the teachers,” praised Kathrin Müller.

Without further ado, the two city employees brought the children from class 3b, who had stepped in as gardeners, small thank-you gifts.
