Retirement after 43 years in the city administration

Heike Pessel has had a moving last day at work. The city council employee has now retired – after a proud 43 years at Wolmirstedt town hall. “I spent so many years here serving the citizens,” says Heike Pessel, who worked in urban renewal.

In the days leading up to her retirement, she trained her successor, Katja Mengewein. On her last official working day, Heike Pessel said goodbye not only to her colleagues, but also to some of her companions. Mayor Mike Steffens thanked Heike Pessel once again for her work on behalf of the city. In her retirement, she not only wanted to use the time for her family, but also to continue to be involved – whether on a voluntary basis or otherwise was something she still wanted to consider.
