Redesign of Wolmirstedt station forecourt begins – bus platforms are relocated for the construction period
The redesign of the station forecourt in Wolmirstedt will begin in a few days. From Monday, September 15, 2025, both the station forecourt and the adjacent bus station will be closed for this purpose. The main aim of the construction work is to make the area completely barrier-free.
A barrier-free redesign of the existing bus platforms at the bus station is planned. Four bus platforms are to become five in future. The associated road and sidewalk surfaces are to be renewed and the bus shelters refurbished. In addition, the construction of new bicycle parking facilities and the arrangement of two parking spaces with e-charging stations are planned.
In addition, the bus waiting areas and the forecourt are to be visually enhanced by adding new greenery consisting of shrubs and trees. The lighting system and surface drainage will also be upgraded.
During the entire construction period, which is expected to last until June 30, 2026, the station and platforms will remain accessible for pedestrians and cyclists via narrow paths. The bus stops will be relocated during this time. Five bus stops will be set up on Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße for bus passengers.
The “station forecourt” construction project is part of a package of measures. This also includes the installation of two elevators and the construction of a pedestrian tunnel, both of which have already been completed. In addition, a loading road is to be built, but this construction measure will only take place once the station forecourt has been redesigned and the land has been released by DB.
The redesign will cost around 1.99 million euros, with 80% of the funding provided by Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (NASA). This means that the town of Wolmirstedt is contributing around 400,000 euros itself.
