Two old tractors from the Wolmirstedt building yard were sold
The town of Wolmirstedt recently purchased a new tractor for the building yard, which can be converted with various attachments for tasks such as pushing snow or spreading salt. The new acquisition means that the two predecessors of the John Deere tractor can now be retired.
The two tractors, built in 1992 and 1997, have already been maintained well beyond their usual service life. “This shows that our building yard employees take good care of their work equipment,” confirms building yard manager Martin Holly. Nevertheless, the time had come for the two vehicles to be replaced. For example, there were no more spare parts for the tractors. This meant that the building yard employees sometimes had to make parts themselves when the older of the two tractors was in need of repair.
The two vehicles have now been taken out of service and sold to a private buyer. The city can make good use of the money raised, as the building yard often needs to be upgraded. For example, the Multicar is soon to be equipped with a new snow plow.
