Youth club in Elbeu to be demolished after fire
Demolition work on the Elbeu youth club began on Monday, April 14. It is expected to last until Tuesday. The building caught fire on March 13. The police attributed the fire to arson and had been securing evidence for several days.
An expert and the insurance company then visited the building and determined that it could only be demolished. This demolition has now begun. But not all parts of the youth club were ready for scrap. The sanitary facilities and some windows were removed first so that they could be reused later in the event of a new building. The heating system is also to be reused.
Local councillors from Elbeu as well as young people and their parents would like to see a new youth club built at the same location. The town hall of Wolmirstedt is currently examining how best to implement this.
