Central allocation office in Wolmirstedt

Mayors sign new special-purpose agreement for the centralized awarding of services

The town of Wolmirstedt, the municipality of Elbe-Heide and the municipality of Niedere Börde have concluded a new special-purpose agreement for the central regulation of procurement procedures. Wolmirstedt’s mayor Marlies Cassuhn, Stefan Crackau (Elbe-Heide) and Stefan Müller (Niedere Börde) have now signed a corresponding agreement. According to the agreement, the town of Wolmirstedt will be responsible for the procurement of planning services, construction, supplies and services from all three contractual partners in future as the central procurement office.

The joint procurement office not only enables the contractual partners to achieve greater efficiency and legal certainty, but also to make better use of existing resources. “The subject of the procurement office is a prime example of municipal cooperation,” said Stefan Crackau at the signing of the contract. “We are pleased that the work will continue and that we will continue to be connected via the Central Procurement Office,” explained Stefan Müller.

The city of Wolmirstedt is already familiar with maintaining a central procurement office. Since 2016, it had performed this task for six other municipalities as well as for the water and wastewater association. However, the contracts with all partners were terminated in 2023. From the administration’s point of view, this had become necessary because the workload could hardly be managed in terms of personnel and time and because the risks associated with the centralized awarding of contracts had increased enormously for the city. It was decided to only cooperate with as many partners as the city could handle in terms of numbers. For this reason, a new special-purpose agreement has now been drawn up with the neighboring municipalities of Elbe-Heide and Niedere Börde, which were also previously among the city of Wolmirstedt’s contracting partners. Wolmirstedt’s mayor Marlies Cassuhn is very pleased that the town can continue to afford to carry out this inter-municipal cooperation.
