30 km/h from now on in front of the “Gerhard Schöne” special school in Wolmirstedt

Drivers in Wolmirstedt watch out: A new speed limit is now in force on Samsweger Straße, in front of the Gerhard Schöne School. Road users are only allowed to drive 30 kilometers per hour there. The speed limit has been imposed by the district of Börde, as Samsweger Straße is a district road.
According to the district administration, the speed limit has been introduced to minimize potential dangers for pupils at the Schöne School. A traffic order from the Börde district states: “As the entrance and exit of the special school is located directly on the road, a speed reduction is ordered in both directions to reduce traffic hazards between pupils and vehicle traffic.”
The route-related speed reduction is limited to the period from Monday to Friday, 6 am to 4 pm.
The town of Wolmirstedt was involved by the district’s traffic authority when the new 30 km/h zone was set up. In this context, the town had asked the traffic authority to consider extending the speed limit towards the end of the town so that at least the bus stop areas (at the crosswalk) in front of the Gutenberg school would be included. This request was examined by the district, but unfortunately rejected in the end.
